Each piece lays out what happened, why it happened, where the disagreements are, and what it means next — with the primary sources linked so you can check the claims yourself.

Editorial principles

• We separate fact from opinion, and we cite a source for every factual claim.
• When an issue has more than one side, we lay out both.
• If something isn't confirmed, we say it isn't confirmed.
• When we get something wrong, we correct it and note the change.

Who runs this

I always felt the news was only half a story. What happened is everywhere, but why it happened, where the disagreements are, and what it means next are scattered across a dozen places — so I ended up piecing it together myself every time. I started this site to do that piecing-together and leave it somewhere useful.

I'm not a reporter or a subject-matter expert. I read widely each day, track down and cross-check the primary sources, and try to lay things out so a first-time reader can follow in one pass. Facts get a source; anything unconfirmed is labeled as such; mistakes get fixed with the change noted. And a commission or an ad never changes a call.
